Recap: Smoked Whiskies of the World

IMG_4434On Friday, January 24th BWG, in collaboration with Gates Circle Liquors held our first whisky tasting event of 2014. Attendees sampled five different smoked whiskies from around the world. Irish Whisky was represented by Connemara Peated Single Malt Whiskey. American whiskey had two showings: from Kentucky, Corsair Triple Smoke and from Texas, Balcones Brimstone. The blended whisky category was represented by Douglas Lang Big Peat. Lastly, Scotland’s Islay single malt Ardbeg 10 rounded out the group of five. Attendees were given score cards to record tasting notes and to score each whisky 1-25 on nose, taste, finish and balance.IMG_4452 IMG_4441All the whiskies featured at the event are available for purchase at Gates Circle Liquors. Here are links to three of the whiskies we’ve previously reviewed: Connemara Peated Single Malt Whisky – Corsair Triple Smoke – Ardbeg 10.IMG_4485

The tasting notes and ratings will be a collaboration between BWG and all the attendees of the Smoked Whiskies of the World event. IMG_4492 IMG_4487BWG had a great time working with Gates Circle Liquors and meeting a bunch of Buffalo whiskey lovers at our first event of 2014 and look forward to more to come.
