Glenfiddich 15

glenf_15Glenfiddich is the third best selling single malt scotch brand in the US. Their volumous line up and triangular bottles are among the most recognizable on liquor store shelves. The Glenfiddich 15 is created using an extensive barrel aging process. It is first aged in Spanish cherry, American bourbon and virgin American white oak barrels. It is then further aged in Glenfiddich’s exclusive Solera Vat (a handcrafted Oregon pine barrel) and finally finished in Portuguese oak casks. The culminating flavors burst with a dessert sweetness on the nose, palate and finish. On the nose, a touch of water brings out chocolate, hazelnut vanilla and honey. The palate continues the dessert course with chocolate, walnuts, cherry and vanilla. It finishes quietly with a faint touch of cinnamon. The Glenfiddich 15 is the essence of a dessert whisky. Pleasant, but it leaves us wanting more than the chocolate redundancy it offers. Locally available at Gates Circle Liquors for $73. Rating: 86/100.

Always enjoyed this Glenfiddich, which is in my opinion is the best value in their standard range. Luckily it’s more around the $45 marker over here (Boston). Great photo.
